Gail Gauldin Moore

Gail Gauldin Moore Biography

I began writing again in my fifties following an image of a strange animal emerging from a cave shaking off wool. I guess I was a poet all of my life but stopped writing around the age of ten and began again in my mid-fifties. I have been featured, published, and won several awards. One award for best poet of 2001 from Pacificus Foundation and a Dorothy Daniels poet’s award. My book, titled “Poems on the Half-Shell” can be found at Duttons Books in Brentwood, Village Books in Brentwood and Beyond Baroque in Venice. Many copies have actually sold.

My book is a box of prayers - it holds my secret name.
It has prayed with me in cold hours or whenever it can.
My book is about snow and rage, which has been flattened out,
But always rises to point a finger.

This book climbs no mountain and keeps no promise.
A hungry hunter is its theme. But it says that I exist and have a deep life line.
