In the late eighties about ten poets began meeting for critical evaluation of their work. Their membership grew and Paradigm Poets became active and dedicated poets in Southern California. Many have published work found in both local and national literary journals and anthologies. Some members have their own published poetry books.

The Paradigm Poets, individually and as a group, dedicate many hours writing and promoting poetry. Members conduct workshops, produce and host poetry readings, judge poetry contests, and many have won prestigious poetry awards. Places of birth range from all regions of the United States of America to countries such as Canada , Ireland , and Yugoslavia . Backgrounds are diverse, too, anthropologists, Roman Catholic Sister, creator of a private school, musicians, counselor, artists, and teachers.
